Now is your chance to own a robotic vacuum. CNET's top models are on sale this Black Friday and Cyber Monday with savings of up to 57%..
The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot that is equipped with smart mapping and app-based no go zones. Its 180-minute running time is impressive. It also automatically refills and self-empties its water tank.
1. iRobot Roomba j7+
The Roomba J7+, iRobot's most intelligent robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its most significant advancement is an obstacle detection system that makes use of built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often slough through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, so you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.
The Combo j7+ is also the best robot to mop we've ever tested, removing spills and dirt effortlessly while leaving no trace it was there. It's simple to control via the iRobot Home app that allows you to schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't sweep areas you don't want it to. It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can start and stop it by speaking to it.
Its design is also an improvement over the rest and features a sleek, top piece that looks more like a toy robot rather than a loud, loud one. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System is self-emptying which is great to reduce the time spent cleaning.
In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one spot instead of scattering it across the floor. It even managed to take small gravel and sand which other robots aren't able to do. It did this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.
While it's not quite as sophisticated as the Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum and can't clean stairs The J7+ is an excellent option for those who require both mopping and a vac in their home. It's not costly and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.
While the iRobot Home app is very easy to use, we've found it to be less reliable than other apps that use robotic cleaners. It can take some time to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to tell whether they're functioning until you actually witness them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking to purchase a vacuum that does more than just clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be hybrid. This category of bots typically includes a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your home simultaneously. These bots also come with many additional features, including smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. The disadvantage is that they tend to be expensive when purchased at full retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.
Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. fail to impress. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and although it lacks some of the premium features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save a few hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is notably soft around obstacles like table legs and walls, which makes it an excellent option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning dust bunnies, which is a place where cheaper robot vacuum s can really fail. The Q5+'s navigation system is excellent, with few misses on walls and corners.
The Q5+, just like other Roborock products, can be controlled by a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleanings. You can also set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go areas or alter your home map, or re-label the rooms.
If you choose to purchase the Q5+, it comes with a brand new auto-empty dock, which was specifically designed to make this robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once in place, emptying the bin can be done easily. It comes with a huge LCD screen which is helpful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This feature isn't necessary for everyone, but it can help you easily keep the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly clever in its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design and functionality are some of the most advanced available however, it's also expensive.
The base station looks nice and hides it when not in use, and its size is quite compact. The station's main selling point is that it automates many tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water and also electrolyze and warm the water. Many other robots require you to perform this.
Its vacuuming performance is quite impressive and efficient, too. It's the only robot vac uum I've used that has done well at picking up dirt from floors that aren't. And it's not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
However, the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means that it can get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the house. It can't navigate stairs as well as competitors, either, and it doesn't have an dock that allows you to create a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for an automated vacuum that can do everything.
However, if you're looking to save some cash or don't want to think about the limitations of this robot, there are plenty of alternatives available, including a lot of eufy models priced considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example, is cheaper however it comes with more features, including stair climbing and a full-function Dock, that provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on plain floors carpets, low-pile carpets and even high-pile ones.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
Eufy is an Anker company that has an established track record of making robot vacuums that offer the perfect balance of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different, offering a capable cleaning of hard floors and mopping, carpets and other surfaces at a reasonable price. It's simple to set up, simply snap on one of the side brushes and then turn it on. Then connect the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. It is recommended to keep the dock near an electrical outlet and ample space for it to move however.
The G30 is a small device that measures 2.85 inches in height, so it is able to be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces furniture. Its design is a little less ostentatious than some rival models, and features a sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical: Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Clean (which scrubs a space in an arc for two minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 with Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.
The way in which the G30 cleans is what differentiates it from other models. It uses a built-in mapping to create an image of the immovable objects in its path and then keeps track of what it has already cleaned and the areas it's not able to access. It then returns to the base to recharge, and then begins cleaning where it left off.
The sleek G30 has a few issues. The iRobot Roomba is more durable and has lower monthly costs. It is faster to charge, has the same battery life and performs better on unfinished flooring or carpet with a low pile. It has a bigger dust bin that doesn't require more emptying. It also comes with boundary strips that keep it from certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't have to be empty as often and it's less difficulty with bulky items like cereal.
